President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for an urgent inspection tour a short while ago of the heroin valued at more than Rs 2.9 billion that was seized last night (Feb 23).
The President had made inquiries regarding the contraband which is reported to weigh 294.49 kilograms.
During discussions President Sirisena conveyed his appreciation towards the efforts taken by officers attached to the PNB and the Special Task Force who were involved in uncovering the drug racket.
President Sirisena taking to his official Twitter handle said that he would continue to support such drug busts in future.
