All garments which cover the face and affect the process of identifying a person have been banned from tomorrow (Apr 29), the President's Media Division said.
The ban had been imposed by President Maithripala Sirisena in accordance with the powers vested with him under the Emergency Regulations.
Issuing a press release, the President's Media Division explained that the ban was imposed in order to facilitate the process of identifying individuals
The decision taken by the President was done in order to strengthen the security of the country and not to offend a particular community, the release said.
