President Maithripala Sirisena expressed his deepest sympathy over the demise of Dr. D.B. Nihalsinghe, a veteran film director.
He was noted for his versatility : as a Film Cameraman, as a film director, as a pioneering television director, as an administrator, as a teacher. He is a pioneer who introduced professional television production to Sri Lanka in 1979, commencing with Sri Lanka’S and South Asia’s first Color teledrama, ” Dimuthu Muthu” .
The President in a special Message of Condolence expressed his sympathy to the family members and relatives of late Dr. D.B. Nihalsinghe. Dr. D.B. Nihalsinghe’s service for the development of the local cinema will be remembered by the nation with gratitude, President Sirisena said in the condolence message.
