President Maithripala Sirisena hosted an Ifthar ceremony at President's House last evening (7) for Islamic devotees observing the daily Ramadan fast.
The event was graced by a large number of Muslim devotees. Blessings were also invoked at the ceremony to bring peace, unity and reconciliation to the country.
Addressing the gathering, President Sirisena stated that the ceremony marks yet another important step in efforts to build reconciliation and unity among communities in the country.
The first copy of the Sinhala translation of the Holy Quran was also presented to the President at the ceremony.
Ministers Faiszer Musthapha, Rauff Hakeem, Rishad Bathiudeen, Abdul Haleem, State Minister A.H.M. Fowzie and foreign diplomats were among those who attended.
