President Maithripala Sirisena joined in an event organized by the Presidential Secretariat to celebrate the Christmas which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, held in the President’s House, Colombo.
Participating at this event Archbishop Rt. Rev Dr. Malcom Ranjith stated that the fullest support of the Catholic Community will be given to the efforts taken by the President to build peace and reconciliation in the country. He further said that his blessings are always with the President.
The Archbishop recalled the Christian teaching of love and peace and said that all should unite for peace at this Christmas irrespective of whether Sinhalese, Tamil or Muslim.
Christmas Carols were sung by the school students in English , Sinhala and Tamil Languages.Well known singers and musicians in the country also participated on this occasion.
