President Maithreepala Sirisena was at the launch of a national trust fund for kidney patients yesterday (Feb 25).
The President speaking at the event said a tremendous response has been received from all stakeholders for the request made to utilize the money meant for election campaign for the prevention of Kidney Disease.
He further said that a Presidential Task Force has been established and national level programmes have been launched, and a drastic improvement could be seen in providing treatment and preventive methods for Kidney Patients.
The launch was held at the Galle Face Hotel with the participation of business community. Several business organizations present at the occasion donated funds for the trust fund.
Rajitha Senarathne, Minister of Health, Harsha de Silva, Deputy Minister of Finance, Ranjith Somawansa, Health Minister/WPC, .P.B.Abeykoone, Secretary to the President, Asela Iddawala were present at this occasion.
