President Maithripala Sirisena met the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, at Hotel Hilton Nagoya yesterday.
The discussion was focused on the developing of Indonesian investments in Sri Lanka. “The current stable conditions in Sri Lanka gives an opportunity for investors for local productions as well as the productions made from imported raw materials, which can be sent for international market”, said President Sirisena. He added that Sri Lanka gives lot of incentives for foreign entrepreneurs to invest in local production.
The Indonesian President stated that Indonesia is going to get the Chairmanship of the Indian Ocean Rim Association. He requested Sri Lankan cooperation in the activities of Indian Ocean Rim Association.
President Sirisena expressed the willingness of Sri Lanka to export rubber for good price. “We should extend our cooperation on that regard”, he said. The attention was also paid on increasing the number of flights of the Garuda Indonesian National Airline to Sri Lanka.
Minister Malik Samarawickrama stated that Sri Lanka has already entered into Free Trade Agreement with India and Pakistan. “We will have similar agreement with China and Singapore in the future”, he added.
