President Maithripala Sirisena today met family members of Mr. Shantha Dodangoda, who was shot to death at Kahawatte on January 5 while preparing the stage for a public meeting for Presidential Election. Mr. Dodangoda was setting up a stage for a propaganda meeting of Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena. President Sirisena offered his sympathy to Mr. Dodangoda’s wife and children over the death of him. Minister Thalatha Athukprala was also present at this occasion.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
