President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will take wing to India this afternoon for a two-day state visit - his first after being elected to office, the President's Office said.
His visit comes in response to an invitation extended by Indian Premier Narendra Modi who was among the first state leaders to congratulate Rajapaksa upon his election victory.
During the tour, the president's delegation is expected to meet high ranking officials including President Ram Nath Kovind.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha and Finance Secretary Sajith Attygalle are among those in the delegation.
Also included in the delegation are his secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara, advisor Lalith Weeratunga, and personal secretary Sugeeshwara Bandara.
