President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to release 37 Indian fishermen held in custody after being arrested by Sri Lanka Navy for poaching in Lankan waters, officials said. The release came hours after a Tamil Nadu fisheries delegation called on the President yesterday. The delegation was led by N. Devadasan. The delegation also requested to release the boats of the fishermen, but the President was not in favour of such release. The delegation is due to meet with the northern Provincial council chief minister C.V.Vigneshwaran. They also met with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday.
