State ceremony of Oil Anointing for the New Year was held at the Sri Pushparama Temple in Malegoda, Payagala, with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Chief Incumbent of the sub divisions of Bentara and Valallavita, Thripitakacharya Ven. Malegoda Nanda thero anointed the President with oil at the auspicious time at 10.41a.m. the government information department.ent reported.
President Sirisena planted a red sandalwood plant in the temple premises to mark this occasion. Commissioner of Ayurveda L. H. Thilakarathna presented a handbook on Ayurveda to the President at this occasion.
Mrs. Jayanthi Sirisena, Ministers Rajitha Senarathne, Sarath Fonseka, Mahinda Samarasinghe and the Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Corey were also present.
