President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in Sri Lanka Tuesday (Dec 01) after participating in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) – 2015 held in Malta and the United Nations Conference on Climate Change – 2015 held in France.
At CHOGM, he handed over the position of Chair in Office of Commonwealth to Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat on November 27.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
