President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in Canberra this morning (May 24) commencing a three-day state visit on the invitation of the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
President's media said in a statement that the President was received by Official Secretary to the Governor General, Mr. Mark Fraser, Minister of Education, Senator Simon Birmingham and Deputy Secretary at Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,Elizabeth Kelly, Australian High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Bryce Hutchisson and Sri Lanka High Commissioner Somasundaram Skandakumar and the staff of the High Commission were also present.
Senator Birmingham welcomed the President and said Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is looking forward to discussing bilateral relations with the President and seek his views for further expansion of cooperation.
