President to appoint Special Commission to probe injustice faced by state officials
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has decided to appoint a special commission to probe the injustice faced by state officials under the previous government.
"He (the President) informed the cabinet that he would be appointing the special commission within six weeks," cabinet spokesman Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said.
He claimed that public sector officials including those in the defence sector had faced harassment owing to political revenge undertaken by the previous government.
Pathirana noted that the government would pass laws to ensure that legal action is not taken against public servants who had committed unintentional mistakes while making decisions.
