President Maithripala Sirisena has requested the public to use electricity sapringly since the water levels of reservoirs have not increased despite receiving raninfall due to the sudden change in weather.
He made this remark while chairing a special discussion yesterday (Apr 01) on the steps which should be taken to provide an uninterrupted power supply on a daily basis throughout the country.
Matters pertaining the use of alternative energy sources were also extensively discussed during this meeting which was held at the President's Secretariat.
Ministers Ravi Karunanayake, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Rajitha Senaratne, Non-Cabinet Minister Harsha de Silva, State Minister Eran Wickremaratne and other relevant officials were among those who attended the discussion.
