President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he is committed to amending disputed clauses in the 19th Amendment.
Issuing a press release, the President had expressed that he was ready to make this move in order to strengthen the 19th amendment in order to ensure the prevention of political issues.
President Sirisena said that the 19th amendment was introduced under his leadership to resolve problems pertaining to democracy that had existed in the country for over 30 years.
He further said that the 19th amendment had brought about favourable results to the country such as the establishment of independent commissions.
