President Xi Jinping sends President Sirisena message of condolence

President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to President Maithripala Sirisena on Sunday following the floods and landslides that overtook the island.

Xi expressed deep sorrow for the people who lost their lives and extended his sympathy to those affected by the disaster as well as the family members of those killed, China Daily reported.

He also highlighted the friendly relationship between the countries and offered all-out support to the Sri Lankan government and help with the disaster relief effort.

Xi said he was confident the Sri Lankan government and the people will overcome the disaster and rebuild their country.

Premier Li Keqiang also sent a message of condolence to Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Sunday.
