Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (Sept 18) stressed on the need to focus on the issues which could be faced by the Asian region in future, the Prime Minister's office said.
During a meeting with a Chinese high-level state delegation at Temple Trees, the Prime Minister had observed that the power of the global economy has been drifting towards Asia.
Mr. Wickremesinghe had pointed out that the market requirements of the countries surrounding the Indian Ocean must be fulfilled, given the growing population and economies of such countries.
Meanwhile, Chen Min'er, Secretary of China's Communist Party, had said that organisations in the town of Shaoxing were willing to invest in sectors such as industry and agriculture in Sri Lanka.
He had also appreciated the contribution of Sri Lanka towards China's 'One Belt - One Road' initiative through which China has invested in more than 150 countries on various projects.
