Ratnapura district MP Premalal Jayasekara did not attend today's inaugural session of the Ninth Parliament.
Mr Jayasekara has been sentenced to death for murder by the Ratnapura High Court and has appealed his guilty verdict.
Parliament officials stated that Parliament's Serjeant-at-Arms has informed the Commissioner General of Prisons to make arrangements for the MP to attend the Parliamentary sittings as the Parliament will be meeting tomorrow (21) and also on August 27 and 28.
