A prisons officer who had been remanded following his deportation from Dubai along with underworld criminal Makandure Madush was granted bail yesterday (Aug 21).
The order was issued by the Kalutara Magistrate's court.
The Magistrate had ruled that bail would be granted since telephone records have not shown that the accused had close links to the drug kingpin.
The accused had been arrested over the possession of narcotics at a party in Dubai along with 30 others including notorious underworld criminals before being deported to the country early this year.
