Private bus employees operating along route number 138/1 from Mattegoda to Pettah have launched a strike with effect from today (Jan 17).
A strike launched as the depot of these buses were accquired by the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha, Gemunu Wijeratne, Chairman All Ceylon Bus Passengers Association said.
He added that moves were afoot to set up a row of shops in the depot thereby causing a possible hindrance for the parking of these buses.
"However, we will decide on whether the strike should be called off or not by today," Mr. Wijeratne said.
