Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has refuted social media reports stating that the broadcasting rights of Parliamentary sessions have been handed over to a private television channel.
Issuing a press release, the Speaker's office said that these reports which claimed that broadcasting rights have been handed over to a private channel with the intervention of the Speaker, were false.
The release clarified that the Speaker had not made any intervention and such broadcasting rights have not been given to any private television, radio, or a digital media outlet.
