The process of identifying lands surrounding the President's House in Kankesanthurai, Jaffna in order to be returned to their owners began today (Jul 4), the Northern Governor's Office said.
Around 62 acres of land will be split into four zones and then be handed over to the public. The identification process will take place tomorrow and next Monday as well.
Accordingly, those who own lands within this area could conduct measurements and identify their land slots by contacting the Tellippalai Divisional Secretariat, the Governor's office noted.
Earlier, former Northern Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran had stated that these lands had been acquired by the former government in order to construct the President's House and its premises.
During a meeting at the Tellippalai Divisional Secretariat yesterday, Northern Governor Raghavan had issued instructions in order to release these lands to their owners.
