Owing to the lack of facilities at the Bandaranaike International Airport, several projects are to be launched in the near future to expand the services at the airport, Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said while on a spot visit to BIA last night.
The Minister's visit which lasted for over two hours included discussions with Minister Vajira Abeywardena who accompanied the minister during his inspection.
Minister Ranatunga paid a visit to the airport with the intention of identifying problems faced by passengers at the airport.
While the Minister expressed his own dissappointment at the lack of facilities, he said he hopes to implement these future projects through the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd.
Services such as security arrangements, and all units under the Immigration and Emigration Department were subjected to the inspection of Minister Ranatunga.
