Public is requested to contact the closest police station or local health officer if they have any information on the four COVID-infected prison inmates who escaped the Gallella treatment centre in Polonnaruwa, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said the escapees can contribute to a possible community spread if they continue to stay in hiding and need to be placed under treatment as soon as possible.
One out of the five inmates who escaped was arrested in Madampe police area on Thursday (31) evening.
