The general public has been advised to contact the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) on 117 to obtain relief or assistance in the event of any disaster.
The inclement weather has affected 5900 people across the country so far with three deaths and five injuries being reported, DMC Deputy Director Pradeep Kodippili said.
He noted that around 900 people had been sheltered in some 14 state-run relief centres.
"We have disbursed Rs 3 million for immediate relief measures in the Batticaloa, Ampara, Mannar, and Nuwara Eliya districts," National Relief Service Centre (NDRSC) Director Chaminda Pathiraja told Times Online.
He said Rs 1.4 million had also been distributed among the affected people in the Monaragala, Kandy, Badulla, and Kurunegala districts as an advance payment to carry out repairs to their houses.
DMC statistics show that more than 150 houses had sustained partial damages while three had been fully damaged.
Meanwhile, the DMC has also advised the public to avoid earthslip prone areas.
Mounds of earth have collapsed onto the Badulla-Passara road, the Nuwara Eliya-Welimada road, and the Kaldemulla Rd in the past few hours, the DMC said.
