Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and former Secretary of Defence Hemasiri Fernando have been issued summons to appear before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) appointed to investigate the Easter Sunday attacks on Thursday (June 6).
Acting PSC Chairman Dr Jayampathy Wickramaratne said today that the PSC had earlier planned to call Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as well as the Directors of both the CID and the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) to testify before the Commission this week.
"However, the Commission has decided that it would be better to first record evidence from the IGP and the former Secretary of Defence first," he said.
Current Defence Secretary General (Rtd) Shantha Kottegoda. Chief of National Intelligence former DIG Sisira Mendis and former Director of the TID, DIG Nalaka De Silva have so far given evidence before the PSC.
