A resident of Bandaranaike Mawatha, who was brought from Colombo to undergo mandatory quarantine process in North died in Jaffna Teaching hospital last night due to sudden illness, a senior official from the hospital said.
According to hospital authorities, he was not infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19) but died due to sudden heart failure. He was admitted to hospital on April 22 with fever and later transferred to the ward.
His family is currently at Vidatalapali quarantine camp in North along with others from Bandaranaike Mawatha after the area was identified as a high risk region for COVID-19 outbreak with a higher number of persons from the area tested positive early this week.
