Attempting to execute acts which cause racial tensions only benefit extremist groups and no other Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday (June 2).
"Nowadays attempts are being made to silence the Muslims who are against the IS terror group. This is similar to forming animosity against the Tamils during Black July. If this happens how can we carry out our fight (against terrorism)?," the Prime Minister questioned.
He made these remarks during a programme which was held in Jaffna to distribute Samurdhi concessions among beneficiaries.
Mr. Wickremesinghe noted that racism thwarts the process of uncovering more information on the terrorists.
We must treat those who are stirring up extremism in the country in a similar scale to that of the terrorists, he said.
"Just as we won't pardon the IS terrorists, we will not tolerate those who support extremism," Prime Minister Wickremesinghe emphasised
