Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed the will to attract more Chinese investment in its infrastructure development and conduct more cooperation with China in manufacturing. He made the remarks at a press conference during the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
When asked about China's role in Sri Lanka's development, the prime minister said that China is one of the largest economy in the world, and that, in Sri Lanka, there is a large number of infrastructure projects which are funded by Chinese government.
This is the first time that a Sri Lankan political leader attended the WEF meeting. In an essay he wrote for the forum, Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka is "prioritizing business-friendly policies" so that it can take advantage of today's peace to build a thriving economy. (Xinhua)
