The contempt of court case filed against State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake is to be taken up for further hearing on March 13 before the Supreme Court.
This was announced when the case was summoned before a three member judge bench comprising Justices Priyantha Jayawardana, Vijith Mallagoda, and Murdu Fernando today (Feb 26).
The judge bench had announced that it would determine the future legal course of action concerning the case on March 13.
Meanwhile, President's Counsel Faiz Mustapha who had represented Mr. Ramanayake had told court that his client had produced himself before court without prior notice.
Mr. Mustapha had added that he hopes to file preliminary objections against this case in due course.
State Minister Ramanayake has been accused of making defamatory remarks against the Supreme Court judge bench which was appointed to hear the fundamental rights petition filed against the president's parliament dissolution gazette in November last year.
