Two trade union members were today dragged out of the Energy Ministry by security guards, after they reportedly video recorded a meeting between Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody and trade union representatives about the issues related to restructuring the CEB.
Saminda Gamage, Secretary of the Ekabadda Jathika Nidhas Sevaka Sangamaya claimed he was dragged down the staircase for four floors down.
He said the incident occured after the President of the union video recorded the meeting.
He said that the security guards had beaten him in the process and was not allowed to take his documents.
He was hospitalized later.
One of the security officers claimed that two security guards were assaulted by the trade union leader as well.
Media teams were prevented from entering the building.
The meeting had been summoned to discuss the outstanding issues related to the restructuring process of the CEB currently underway.
