Parliamentarian Ven Athuraliye Rathana Thera commenced a fast-unto-death campaign outside the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple in Kandy today (May 31) calling for the resignation of certain politicians.
The Thero had urged that Minister Rishad Bathiudeen must be removed from his position along with Governors M.L.A.M. Hizbullah and Azath Salley.
Earlier this week, Rathana Thero had granted a 24-hour period for Rishad Bathiudeen to resign from his ministerial portfolio. He had commenced a fast-unto-death campaign today since the said time period had lapsed yesterday.
