President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the Finance Minister to reinstate the reduced tax on beer less than 5% alcohol content. The tax on low alcohol beer was reduced in the budget 2016 recently to avoid discrepancy of tax in the importation of beers.
The President has given this instruction, paying attention on the possibility to increase the consumption of low alcohol beer.
Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
