Remove CBSL from PM's control - Mahindananda

Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage called on the Government to bring in a proposal to Cabinet and remove the Central Bank from the purview of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Addressing the debate on the COPE Report into the CB bond issue, MP Aluthgamage accused the Prime Minister of direct involvement in the alleged scam and said this was the reason why MPs from the United National Party (UNP) were the only ones unwilling to admit that there had been a fraud in the issue of Treasury Bonds.

Mr. Aluthgamage also took aim at Fisheries Minister and United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera for continuing to remain in the Government along with other SLFP MPs given the scale of the fraud and attempts made to cover it up.
