The committee which was appointed to probe allegations by State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake alleging that parliamentarians and ministers consumed cocaine, will submit its report to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (Feb 25).
Minister Lakshman Kiriella who headed the committee said that the report has been compiled and will be submitted to the Prime Minister within the course of the day.
The special committee was appointed by Mr. Wickremesinghe following allegations levelled by State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake who claimed that there are certain cabinet ministers and parliamentarians who consume cocaine.
State Minister Ramanayake who appeared before the committee last week told reporters that he had divulged a few names of parliamentarians who were under the influence of cocaine.
He added that he had submitted a list of these individuals to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) as well.
However, Minister Kiriella told the media yesterday that there were no parliamentarians or cabinet ministers who were under the influence of cocaine.
