Retired Major General Vijitha Ravipriya has been appointed as the Director-General of Customs on Thursday, the Finance Ministry announced.
This appointment of a military top officer is another addition to the growing number of retired army officers who have been appointed to head key government institutions.
Major General Ravipriya of the Sri Lanka Artillery regiment, has served many command and staff appointments in his Regiment and the Army.
He also served at the office of Director General Training at the Army Headquarters, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Director Media and office of Military Spokesman, Director Personal Administration, and Director Planning.
He was the Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi as his last appointment, prior to his retirement. (BS)
