A silent protest was organized by an organization calling it self “Surakimu Daruwan Samuhaya” (Collective to protect children) advocacy group yesterday demanding strict measures in place to prevent child abuse at the designated Agitation area near Presidential Secretariat.
A proposal was handed over to the Presidential Secretariat demanding severe punishment for such abusers. The protest was participated by the members of the organization and representatives of Civil Society Organizations.
“Child abuse is increasing day by day because the punishments given to them are relaxed. We urge the President to expedite the creation of a moral society and a safer place for our children to live, Shalika Chandani, Founder of the Organization said.
“The frequent cases of violence against children, including sexual abuse have triggered us to protests with demanding new laws” she added.(JM)
