The ruling pertaining to the preliminary objections filed by three suspects in the misappropriation of funds case involving the D.A. Rajapaksa memorial museum will be announced by the Special High Court on May 07.
Objections were filed by the second, fifth, and sixth suspects in the case by claiming that the charges against them had not been presented in a proper manner by the prosecution. Accordingly, the Attorney General had filed counter objections during today's hearing in court.
Meanwhile, the first suspect in the case, former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, was not present during today's hearing since court had granted him permission to travel overseas from March 26 until April 12.
The case was taken up before Justices Sampath Abeykoon, Sampath Wijeratne, and Champa Janaki Rajaratne today.
On a previous occasion, the preliminary objections filed by Mr. Rajapaksa on the jurisdiction of the Special High Court to hear the case was dismissed by the later itself.
