The rupee is in an unstable state and it cannot be predicted whether it would depreciate upto Rs 200 against the US dollar, parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena said yesterday (Jan 13).
MP Gunwardena addressing a press conference said that the country will not be able to obtain loans from other countries if the economy is on the downward trend.
He also denied remarks made by non-cabinet Minister Harsha de Silva on the Japanese Samurai Bond and the Chinese Central Bank's Panda bond agreement which was signed in Sri Lanka.
"Sri Lanka has never signed a Panda or a Samurai agreement ever since it received independence" Mr. Gunawardena said.
