State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardena was appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence today (May 13), as President Maithripala Sirisena is out of the country, sources said.
The appointment comes in the wake of President Sirisena's official visit to China.
President Sirisena took wing to China this morning to attend the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations from May 15 to May 22.
