Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa has pledged to use his salaries to be earned as a parliamentarian and minister during the next two years, to pay off the country's debts, if voted into power.
The New Democratic Front (NDF) party candidate had made this promise in a pledge handed over to Minister Harin Fernando during a rally held at the 'Wills Ground' in Badulla over the weekend
In his pledge, Premadasa had said he would not import vehicles for his use during the next two years, and that he would not maintain his existing vehicles through public funds.
During the event, Sports Minister Harin Fernando had remarked that he would resign from politics, if his policies do not match the policies of the United National Party (UNP) through which he was voted into Parliament.
