UNP MP Sajith Premadasa has called the Elections Commissioner to stop false propaganda over the Independent Television Network which is carrying false reports that he was supporting President Mahinda Rajapaksa. 'There is no truth that I am supporting the President, I am fully supporting common Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena', Mr Premadasa said. Earlier President Rajapaksa also had claimed that Mr Premadasa was joining him the final meeting held at Kesbewa on Monday. However, Mr Premadasa has strongly denied that he was supporting Mr Rajapaksa.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
The UK government has unveiled a package of reforms to simplify imports from developing countries which allows for more garments manufactured in Sri Lanka to enter the UK tariff-free.
