The Samurdhi Movement which has become an unsatisfactory state institution due to the disappointments of its employers, caused by the bad management by the former government, to be turned into an efficient and effective institution, President Maithripala Sirisena assured senior officials of the body.
He made these remarks at a special meeting on professional issues of the Samurdhi Managers held on Tuesday at the Presidential Secretariat. The discussion, in which all related parties took part, focused on the issues faced by the Samurdhi Managers and the solutions to be given to them.
President Sirisena directed the officials to take quick actions in this regard. He also inquired about the measures taken to solve these.
They also discussed about the current situation of the Divi Neguma Development Department and the issues arisen there. Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare S. B. Dissanayake and the Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake also participated in this discussion.
