Sandhya Ekneligoda, the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda has filed a petition against Ven Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero requesting a mandatory imprisonment term for the latter.
Ms. Ekneligoda had filed an Appeal Petition at the Supreme Court seeking that the suspended imprisonment sentence imposed on Gnanasara Thero for threatening her, be ordered as a mandatory sentence.
Gnanasara Thero who was serving a suspended imprisonment term of six years was granted presidential pardon late last month.
The petition has been fixed for June 22 by the Supreme Court. Justices Sisira de Aubrew, Murdu Fernando, and Gamini Amarasekara will hear the case.
