Supreme Court judge Prasanna Jayawardena passed away at the age of 63 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo today (Dec 24).
Jayawardena, a President's Counsel, once served as the Deputy President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
He was also a member of the three-member Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) appointed to probe the bond scam under the previous government.
The justice is a past pupil of Royal College, Colombo, and earned his degree at the Colombo University.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
