Two petitions filed against the violation of human rights due to Emergency Regulations have been fixed for July 5 by the Supreme Court.
The petitions were filed by Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu - Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives, and Gamini Viyangoda of the 'Purawasi Balaya' movement.
They will be represented by Attorneys M.A Sumandhiran and Viran Corea.
Defence Secretary Shantha Kottegoda and the Attorney General (AG) have been named as respondents to the petition. President's Counsel Farzana Jamil will appear for the AG during the case.
The petitions will be heard before a three-member judge bench of Justices Prasanna Jayawardena, Murdu Fernando, and S. Thurairaja during the next hearing.
