The Supreme Court is to hear an appeal filed by former Minister Johnston Fernando this week against the court order issued by Kurunegala courts to remand him further. Lawyers representing former minister filed the appeal at the Supreme Court this week.
Former Minister Johnston Fernando was further remanded last week over charges of alleged misappropriation of state funds during his tenure as Minister in last regime. Along with him, two other suspects were also remanded until case is concluded in special High Court at Bar.
He was arrested by police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) on May 5 after his statement on complaints of financial fraud at Lak Sathosa. Fernando had allegedly taken goods from Lak Sathosa without making payments.
