A second patient is confirmed to have died from COVID-19 in the country. The individual died this evening at the Negombo Hospital, Director General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe stated.
Issuing a statement through the Government Information Department, he added that the deceased was a 64-year-old male resident in Kochchikade.
He had admitted himself to a private hospital in Negombo and had later been transferred to the Negombo Hospital, where he passed away.
Dr Jasinghe added that the patient was only confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 today (30).
He had also been suffering from a heart attack and had a long-term respiratory disorder.
