Secretary to the President Austin Fernando has resigned from his post today, the President's Media Division said. It is reported that President Maithripala Sirisena accepted the resignation letter submitted by Mr Fernando.
"Secretary to the President, Mr Austin Fernando bid farewell to his office just a while ago." the President Media Unit said in a tweet from its official handle.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
